Dr. Drew Boswell
Originally from Alabama, Drew earned his Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University in 1996. He graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina with a Master of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Ministry degree. Drew has over 20 years of serving within the local church. Before coming to Valdosta, Drew served as the Senior Pastor at Daybreak Community Church in Frederick, Maryland.
Drew accepted the call to serve at First Baptist Church of Valdosta in 2011 and stepped down as the Children’s Pastor in 2017 to become the Executive Director of Camp Rock of Georgia. He also serves as the Executive Pastor of Redland Baptist Church since April of 2018.
Drew is married to Kimberly and they have four wonderful children Joshua, Caleb, Hannah-Grace, and Isaac. Drew also serves as the Scoutmaster of Troop 403 in Valdosta, GA.
Jay Watkins has served as pastor of Redland Baptist Church in Valdosta Georgia for over 20 years. He has led the church from 60 to over 600 in attendance and membership. Pastor Watkins serves as a Trustee on the North American Missions Board (NAMB), and sits on several national committees. Jay has led the Valdosta Baptist Association in large outreach events like Community Day where over 70,000 people have been given essentials like food, clothing, medical help, plus much more. This idea has grown from a South Georgia effort into a national movement to reach strategic cities in North America.
Redland Baptist Church has also started, under Jay’s leadership, a fine arts academy where at-risk children from the community are bused to the church for various classes (equestrian, various musical instruments, sports, etc.) His heart is to help others know the love of Jesus Christ and that tomorrow can be brighter than what they may be experiencing today. Jay is married to Sandra Watkins and they have four adopted children. Adoptions are also very important to Jay, and he and Patti Karras have helped many families experiences the blessings of adoption.
Rylee Thornbury, LMSW
Case Worker Supervisor
Rylee joined the Camp rock staff as Case Work Supervisor in February of 2019. She graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Missouri — Columbia in 2017. She has served as a case coordinator for Georgia Cares and a Site Manager for Jumpstart for Young Children.
Rylee joined the Camp rock staff as Case Worker in March of 2019. She graduated with a bachelor’s from Ferris State University in Big Rapids Michigan . She served as a case worker and investigator for Lanier Georgia Department of Children and Family Services prior to joining the Camp Rock team.
